How to estimate customs clearance for a car from China in 2026

When importing a car from China to Russia, an individual pays: customs duty (depends on price and engine displacement), recycling fee, SBKTS (vehicle safety certificate), EPTS (electronic vehicle passport) and broker services.

The customs duty for individuals is computed at a single rate: the maximum of two values is taken — a percentage of the car's price or a fixed euro amount per cubic centimetre of engine displacement. The rate depends on the car's age (under 3 years, 3–5 years, over 5 years).

For electric vehicles a simplified rate applies — 15% of the price; the recycling fee uses the minimum coefficient.
