Chery Automobile was founded on January 8, 1997 in the city of Wuhu (Anhui Province) by a group of municipal officials as a state-owned enterprise. Series production of cars started in 1999, and since 2003 Chery has held the #1 position in passenger car exports among Chinese brands — in 2025 this record was extended for the 23rd consecutive year. In 2025 the company exported 1.344 million vehicles (+17.4% vs 2024), and cumulative exports passed 5.85 million units — the first Chinese brand with such a result.
In the Russian market Chery is one of the most recognizable brands: in Q1 2025 it ranked 3rd with 27,199 sales. The Tiggo lineup covers all SUV segments (from the subcompact Tiggo 4 Pro to the flagship Tiggo 8 Pro Max), while Arrizo sedans address the budget and mid-size needs. Chery simultaneously develops the Jetour, Omoda, Exeed and Kaiyi sub-brands, giving the group a uniquely broad lineup among Chinese players.
